I’ve been using this free WordPress site for a while and have been wondering about self-hosting, but to be honest I don’t have the energy to deal with moving to a new site and learning how to configure the WordPress engine there, and the resident technical advisor is busy teaching himself Catalyst and has no room for other projects. (It’s possible that at some point he’ll get round to building me a site in Catalyst, but let’s say neither of us are holding our breath)

So, since what was really annoying me was the ads, I’ve decided to compromise by paying to go ad-free. I hadn’t realised how intrusive they were getting until I happened to look at the site on my phone: I think whoever paid to advertise ‘Which University Has The Hottest Cheerleaders?’ on my blog was wasting their money at best, but now you won’t have to look at it. Unless you have an adblocker, in which case this doesn’t make very much difference. I’m not really asking for advice, just giving you a heads-up on what’s going on.

Anyway, now I need to go and write some more books to pay for this. They’re set in a universe which admittedly has (a) chattel slavery, (b) a history of confusion, barbarity and people making really stupid political decisions, and (c) a *censored* of *censored* on the horizon which as well as all the trouble over *censored* is likely to make future books an interesting place to live, but at least they don’t assume everyone’s interested in rating the hotness of cheerleaders. In fact, let’s put the question to some of the inhabitants of Requite, shall we?
