I aten’t dead

Well, I finally got access to my WordPress account back after a complicated series of events, and now I need to learn how WordPress works all over again in order to modernise the site, which was already looking dated in 2019, which I will add to my list of… many things that are waiting for me to do them.

Since I was last here, I’ve published new ebook editions of The Maker’s Mask and The Hawkwood War, which should be available through the usual channels. There’s about a chapter of new material in THW, a bit less in MM, and the rest is housekeeping like ‘make it clearer that Requite has a longer year than Earth and therefore while Jahsvir getting married off at 13 is young, it’s not quite as bad as it looks in at least that limited respect’ and ‘give Innes their proper pronouns rather than calling them ‘it’. Print books will follow once I’ve decided quite what to do about Requite numbering. The project I’m working on now is set around the same time period as the first two and I feel like it’s another duology, which probably means it’ll run long and turn out to be a trilogy, and I’m not sure how to number them or how to express ‘this follows on from MM/HW but is a set of books on its own’ on the covers. The project is very tentatively answering to Ailebroc for the first book and Lionvarre for the second but this is subject to change.

I’ve joined Mastodon, since this is approximately my fourth go-round of ‘site I made my digital home on has been sold to egotistical numpty’ and my feelings on Elon Musk are best described as dull annoyance.

  1. Hello! It is good to see you back in the land of the blog! And I am very excited to hear of new Requite books, however many they turn out to be and wherever they sit in the timeline.

I haven’t decided what, if anything, I’m going to do about social media: I haven’t really enjoyed Twitter much since 2016, so seeking to replicate the experience seems silly.
