Yes, I have been neglecting this site, and yes, I am going to blame Mr Foo the Lovable Pixie again. Anyway, things have been moving! The Duke Is Dead is available now from Amazon, Lulu, and *hopefully* from Kobo, though we’ve been having trouble with that so please let us know if you’re having any problems.
Anna Chronistic And The Scarab Of Destiny is coming on October 31st and is available for Amazon preorder! Paperbacks and epubs will be available in due course.
Probably most importantly, new editions of The Maker’s Mask and The Hawkwood War are coming later this year. I started writing these two books in 2003 or so and finished in 2010, and at that point I made the decision to use ‘it’ as a pronoun for Innes Liang and other gender-variant people because that was what Lois McMaster Bujold did with her herms. Since then, friends and readers have shared feedback with me about that, and I feel that it’s time to revise Innes’ pronouns to ‘they’, Zircon’s to ‘he or she’ and so forth and to fix some other missteps. All the epicons in Heavy Ice have been ‘they’ from the start.
Ooohh, YAY!! Picked up “The Duke Is Dead,” and I’m excited for you about “Anna Chronistic”!! 😀
I think that’s a lovely idea to change the epicons’ pronouns — you made a completely reasonable choice at the time, but I think that “they” will read as more humanizing and written by a caring ally, these days. ❤
Thank you, sweetheart!
