Family trees!

Cas reminded me that I’d said I would do family trees for the Requite books and put them on the website, so there is now a family trees page. Click on the thumbnails for larger versions. So far, there are trees for the Boccamera and the Kapellans: the Malabranca and the Gentileschi are both a whole lot more complicated, so it’ll take me longer to get them sorted out. The Hawkwoods are less trouble (now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d see myself typing) so the Hawkwood tree might well come next.

Incidentally, I don’t keep track of all this information in my head. I use a program called GeneWeb. It’s not ideal for the little ins and outs of life on Requite, because it doesn’t understand Gentileschi situations like ‘born out of a Genitrix facility two years after the murder of his mother’ or ‘cloned from genetic material from long-dead relatives who never met each other’, and it gets a bit iffy about epicons. But it gets the job done, and it means that if I throw in a casual reference to Latinus and Tzenni being distantly related four generations back through the Considines, I know that they are distantly related four generations back through the Considines, which is one less thing to worry about.

Now, if only someone had written a program so that I could cross-reference people’s eye colours, so that I didn’t have to go through the book making sure I hadn’t said someone had steel-grey eyes on page 28 and hazel eyes on page 157… 🙂
